The Slot Festival is attracting more visitors every year. The 2013 event is taking place at the Motor Heritage Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire, England on May 12, and promises to be the biggest event of its kind in the world. Last year it is believed that a visitor from South Africa made the journey specialy to attend, but you may know differently ?

This year the organisers are very keen to find the visitor who has made the longest journey, and we hear there are a couple of free tickets as compensation for the travel costs to get to Gaydon. So far, we know of slot fans travelling from Canada and Brazil to be at Slot Festival – do you plan to travel further or know somebody who is ?

We’ll be tracking down the keenest travellers at Slot Festival, and urge you contact the organisers with your travel plans to be in with a chance of those free tickets. See the Slot Festival news item elsewhere on the SLOT Magazine news pages for contact details.

  1. Andre Acker says:

I will travel from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, not exclusively for this event but also to be there.

I was the visitor from South Africa last year, and would recommend the SlotFest to all slot fans around the world. Slot fans in the UK do not realise how fortunate they are, with regular slot swap meets, local clubs, a multitude of retailers (both physical and over the internet), reliable and safe (albeit not necessarily cheap) postage, etc. Here in the ‘colonies’, even in a major city, the fare is pathetic, waiting many months for the latest releases and then having to pay exorbitant prices. Thank goodness for internet retailers like Gary from MRE. So, slot fans, put a visit to Gaydon on your bucket list, take plenty of pounds (and a large, extra suitcase for the journey home), and get there!

I must admit the trip from Canada to Gaydon was well worth it. Sean and Tony did a little arm twisting to get me moving, but they didn’t have to twist very hard.
I have never seen or attended a better slot festival, I only wish it had been 2 days
As I just couldnt see it all in one day.
Now Slot Magazine lets see the coverage of this great event, as I eagerly await. Issue number 1 of my subscription.
    Cheers
    Bob
