To the sound of period rock and blues courtesy of Steve Kempson – and noted jazz musician John Crocker was racing too – Allan Feldman, John and Richard the racing roving reporter fought out the lower finals. Our pinion stayed put and the Signore Secchi sorted motor proved quick on its first race outing, but the corners were a different matter… Steve, John Dilworth and Bill Jenner from the Timaru club contested the A final. Bill’s becoming quite a F32 exponent, top qualifying here and placing second at the recent BSCRA Classics meeting at Ipswich. Just don’t ask him to drive anything modern! Although leading at the start Jenner deslotted leaving ‘Lowrider’ Steve to take a narrow win with ace slot body restorer John D. not far behind in third.
